  Macon Ridge Woodworks began with a passion for woodworking, creativity, and craftsmanship. After decades of building furniture and working hands-on with wood, Macon turned that passion into a small family business — named after himself and his loyal shop companion, Ridge. What started as a hobby is now a growing woodworking studio in Raleigh, North Carolina, creating one-of-a-kind pieces from reclaimed local wood. 

Macon is a North Carolina native who has been working with wood for decades. He has an eye for design and a perfectionist’s hand for detail. His career has taken him through many skilled roles - from furniture builder, warehouse manager to martial arts competitor and instructor - and each one has shaped the way he approaches his craft today: with focus, creativity, and a deep respect for quality.

From the moment he first sees a board, Macon begins to imagine what it wants to become - a table, a bench, a keepsake box. He lets the wood guide the process, preserving natural edges, highlighting grain patterns, and making sure each piece will stand the test of time.

 Ridge is the loyal shop companion and beloved namesake of Macon Ridge Woodworks. He’s a Mountain Feist with a brindle coat and a regal personality, equally ready for a woodland adventure or an afternoon nap.

Ridge is often seen racing around the property doing “zoomies,” supervising from a sunny patch of floor, or enjoying a good lap. Though he doesn’t hold any official job title, he brings joy, comfort, and inspiration to every day in the shop - and we wouldn’t trade him for anything.

We believe every piece of wood deserves a life that honors its beauty. That’s why we hand-select reclaimed wood from local sources and mill it ourselves. The wood we choose has lived a life already - in forests, fields, and old properties - and we give it a second chance in a new form.

We build from our local woodshop in Raleigh, North Carolina, surrounded by trees, nature, and good company. All of our wood is reclaimed and milled locally. We don’t use manufactured materials or pressboard. We work with what nature gives us. 

We serve the Triangle area and ship nationwide. Local delivery is available for larger pieces, and every item is wrapped, sealed, and cared for before it leaves our hands.

Unlike mass-produced furniture and decor, every piece at Macon Ridge Woodworks is:

• Finished to protect and highlight the grain
• Made to be used and loved for years

We create a limited number of pieces. When a board inspires us, we build something from it - thoughtfully, patiently, and with skill.

We believe wood carries warmth, memory, and meaning.  To us, this is about more than building beautiful things. It’s about building relationships.

We want our pieces to become part of homes - to hold memories, to make meals, to gather around. We love seeing photos of our work in your spaces, hearing your stories, and knowing that something made in our small shop is now part of your life.
